Strategy Action RPG Minecraft Legends Releases This April

Every PvP map will feel like an entirely new game with procedural generation.

Minecraft Legends, the spinoff action strategy game taking place in the Minecraft world, has been announced for release on April 18 this year according to the latest Xbox Developer Direct. The game will be available for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC, as well as Xbox Game Pass at launch.

In the story, players engage in heroic battles to defend the overworld from the destructive Piglins. The game will allow you to play the story campaign as an online co-op experience with your other friends, and it will also include a PvP mode where two teams of four players each work together to destroy the opponent’s team space. Furthermore, Minecraft Legends is confirmed to support cross-platform play and online matchmaking from the day it’s released.

The developers went deeper into the game flow as well and the strategies each player can do. Players in Minecraft Legends can (and should) share their army and resources with their team, so communication is really important if players want to win. The key here is to decide with your mates on what your role will be for the duration of the game, as the matches involve not only gathering resources for the things you will build, but also defending against the raids of the separate Piglins factions, so it’s a PvPvE experience of sorts.

You can attack the Piglins for materials or ride on top of the Regal Tiger and scavenge the procedurally generated island for resources. Players who like building can also establish towers and other defenses in case the Piglins attack, which can be a creative process for those willing to put the time and effort. You can opt for building mazes and layers of walls inside your own base, or set a forward base outside to act as an external layer of defense. Simpler strategies, like creating a small archer team to get into the cracks of the other team’s defenses, can work nicely, so it’s not just about who builds the biggest defenses, but also who uses the most effective strategies.

Xbox Game Studios will also be working on Minecraft Legends along with Blackbird Interactive to shape the experience into something new and exciting. Blackbird Interactive is a studio known for creating multiple strategy experiences such as Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak, Crossfire: Legion, and the upcoming Homeworld 3.
