Steph McGovern to be replaced on Packed Lunch with two Big Breakfast legends | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

Steph McGovern is set to be replaced on her Channel 4 show Steph’s Packed Lunch by two iconic hosts.

The magazine-style programme, which launched in 2020, is usually fronted by Steph.

However, the news that the 90s dream team Denise Van Outen and Johnny Vaughan would replace her for one day only was announced on the show yesterday.

Denise appeared on the programme with Johnny to reveal the surprise.

“We speak all the time, and we keep saying we need to do something together and this just feels like the perfect time for us. I can’t wait, I’m so excited,” she said.

The reunion is all the more special as Denise revealed that the pair had fallen out during an appearance on Loose Women in 2017.

She told the panel: “I had a big fall out with Johnny Vaughan, who I did Big Breakfast with and at that time we were like brother and sister.

“We were best friends, unbreakable. The whole relationship fell apart when we started to renegotiate our contracts because I always felt we worked together as a team and that’s how it should be.

“But Johnny – and I know there are other influences involved, and agents and everything – but he was negotiating separately from me, which I found out and obviously confronted him.

“I realised then at that point that our friendship had gone in two different directions and for me it was tarnished.”

However, she added: “I have seen him since and whenever I see him, because I love him so much and he makes me laugh so much more than anyone I have ever met, I just forget about it because we were really, really good friends.”

They aren’t the first hosts to step in for Steph as she enjoys a day off. Just last month, the show was hosted by double BAFTA-winning actress Anna Maxwell Martin for one day.

The acclaimed Line Of Duty actress made her live daytime TV presenting debut on the show.

Steph’s Packed Lunch is on Channel 4 every weekday at 12pm.
