Destiny 2, Elden Ring, Dota 2, and more peaked at over 240,000 players in 2022.
As part of the Steam Winter Sale for 2022, Valve has released a special store page dedicated to some of the best-selling and most-played games of the past year.
When opening Steam, players will be greeted with a pop-up for a ‘Best Of 2022’ section, which will showcase some of the biggest games of the year based on the likes of top-selling games measured by gross revenue, most played games measured by peak concurrent players, most played Steam Deck games measured by daily active players, and much more.
In terms of best-selling games measured by gross revenue, some of Steam’s biggest games which were awarded with the ‘platinum’ trophy include Dying Light 2, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, PUBG: Battlegrounds, Destiny 2, DOTA 2, Lost Ark, Elden Ring, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, and more.
Moving onto the year’s most played games measured by peak concurrent players, titles such as Ark: Survival Evolved, Destiny 2, Elden Ring, Goose Goose Duck, and Apex Legends all peaked at over 240,000 players at some point during the course of 2022. Whilst games such as Cyberpunk 2077, Grand Theft Auto V, MultiVersus, New World, and Team Fortress 2 were awarded gold trophies for peaking at over 130,000 players.
Back in February, Valve launched the Steam Deck, an incredibly impressive piece of hardware that allowed users to play their Steam games on the go. One of the most interesting parts of Valve’s best of 2022 awards is the most played Steam Deck games, measured by daily active players. Receiving a platinum trophy in this section includes the likes of Red Dead Redemption 2, Stray, Elden Ring, No Man’s Sky, and more.
Steam users are also now able to vote in the elusive Steam Awards for 2022. Categories include game of the year, VR game of the year, lavor of love, better with friends, outstanding visual style, most innovative gameplay, and many more. The coveted game of the year award nominees include Dying Light 2, Elden Ring, Stray, God Of War, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II.
