Asus has revealed new details about its handheld gaming PC, the ROG Ally, including a May 11 launch date. The company has revealed in a press release that the ROG Ally will run on AMD’s new Ryzen Z1 series processors with RDNA3 graphics.
Keeping the ROG Ally cool will be ROG’s own Zero Gravity thermal system, which makes use of a dual-fan system along with thin heatsink fins and high-friction heat pipes. The handheld gaming PC will also feature a 1080p display with a refresh rate of 120Hz, as well as support for AMD FreeSync Premium, along with a maximum brightness of 500 nits.
The ROG Ally will run on Windows 11, which essentially makes the guesswork of trying to figure out if a game will run on the platform essentially non-existent. While the Steam Deck has an entire ecosystem revolving around figuring out whether a game runs on the platform or not, the ROG Ally won’t have to worry about that aspect.
To make navigation on Windows 11 easier, the ROG Ally will feature a special edition of Asus’ own Armoury Crate software. Along with allowing easier navigation of game libraries, the Armoury Crate will also give users quick access to performance toggles, in-game monitoring software, and support for Aura Sync.
The Asus ROG Ally will also be bundled with a 90-day trial for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate to further emphasise its support for Windows 11.
