Bethesda Softworks’ Starfield and Arkane Studios’ Redfall recently faced delays into the first half of 2023, prompting some manner of disappointment from fans. The former is seemingly warranted though – developers reportedly speaking to Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier last year were “worried” about meeting the original release date. Some even floated the term “Next Cyberpunk.”

Regardless, Xbox head Phil Spencer has addressed the delays on Twitter, noting that, “These decisions are hard on teams making the games and our fans. While I fully support giving teams time to release these great games when they are ready, we hear the feedback. Delivering quality & consistency is expected, we will continue to work to better meet those expectations.”

The Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase is scheduled for June 12th and should give a better idea of what to expect from the publisher in the next year or so. While gameplay for Starfield could still be showcased, we may see titles like Oxide Games’ Project Indus, a 4X strategy game that will reportedly release for cloud platforms along with Xbox and PC. The next Forza Motorsport could also be announced and released later this year.

Then there are releases that could arrive next year like The Outer Worlds 2, Avowed and Contraband. Stay tuned for more details, as always.
