10 Mouse Droids (MSE-6)

The Mouse Droid Seen In Star Wars: A New Hope

The MSE-6 series repair droids are small tank-like roving droids that can be seen running from Chewbacca in A New Hope. They’re most memorable because of their small size, unique shape, and squeaking noise they make that resembles what a mouse would sound like.

While most that can be seen in Star Wars don’t have unique personalities, they are usually very squeamish and startle easily compared to most other droids. These cute little droids add some depth to the universe and keep the smallest of components in tiptop shape.

9 Medical Droid (2-1B)

The Medical Droid 2-1B From Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back

The 2-1B series of medical droids are designed to keep humanoid and alien species alike as healthy and alive as they can be. They were responsible for keeping Luke Skywalker alive in a bacta tank after he was attacked by a Wampa on Hoth, as well as replacing his hand after his duel with Darth Vader on Bespin.

There was also one present during the surgery that transformed Anakin Skywalker into Darth Vader. They’re most memorable because of their translucent parts, simulated medical mask, as well as their calming doctor like voice.

8 L3-37

L3-37 From Solo: A Star Wars Story

Elthree, or L3-37, was a droids rights activist as well as Lando’s co-pilot of the Millennium Falcon during Solo: A Star Wars Story. There are no other droids seen in the Star Wars universe quite like Elthree, as she was a highly modified pilot droid that made enhancements to herself over the years.

When she fell during the firefight on the Kessel Run, Elthree was uploaded into the Falcon’s navigation system. When she was alive, she was uniquely sassy (probably due to being around Lando all the time). Her character in the movie was also motion captured by a real actress wearing green screen and droid parts.

7 AP-5

AP-5 The Protocol Droid From Star Wars: Rebels

AP-5 is an ex-imperial cargo management protocol droid that eventually joined the crew of The Ghost during Star Wars: Rebels. He can be very grumpy and has a very pessimistic attitude similar to C-3PO, as well as a dull sounding, nasally voice. AP-5 is always set on doing his job right and always keeping a correct record.

He and Chopper, another droid on The Ghost crew, started as adversaries but slowly became the best of friends — very similar to the friendship of R2-D2 and C-3PO. When he joined the Rebellion, he was a key part of taking down an imperial spy droid and keeping the location of a rebel base a secret.

6 IG-11

IG-11 From Star Wars: The Mandalorian

IG-11 was an assassin droid that was sent as a bounty hunter to both kill Din Djarin and capture Grogu during the first season of The Mandalorian. He was destroyed and later repurposed by the Ugnaught Kuiil to be Grogu’s nanny and protector.

He fulfilled his programming to the bitter end and protected Grogu at all costs. IG-11 is memorable because he was reprogrammed to protect instead of kill, and he demonstrated some uniquely human qualities. He was also voiced by Taika Waititi, who directed some of the Season 1 episodes.

5 BB-8

BB-8 From Star Wars: The Force Awakens

BB-8 is a rather uniquely shaped astromech droid that kind of resembles a soccer ball with a head. His first appearance was in The Force Awakens as Poe Dameron’s co-pilot of his X-Wing, and he was responsible for carrying part of a map that showed Luke Skywalker’s location.

BB-8 later became more of a companion to Rey and joined her on many of her adventures. He is both very snarky yet lovable towards his friends and fellow Resistance members. His most memorable qualities are his loyalty to Rey and his carefree attitude.

4 BD-1

BD-1 From The Video Game Jedi: Fallen Order

BD-1 is a special exploration droid and Cal Kestis’ companion during the video game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and its upcoming sequel, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. He is small enough to ride on Cal’s back during his adventures, and he supplies Cal with a steady supply of healing stim canisters.

BD-1 also has the ability to scan the environment, play holo-recordings, and open special containers. BD-1 is always curious about his surroundings and is memorable due to his small size and his cute big eyes.

3 C1-10P (Chopper)

C1-10P Or Chopper From Star Wars: Rebels

Chopper is one of the most chaotic droids in the Star Wars universe, yet his is still one of the most lovable. He was rescued from a crashed Y-Wing during the Clone Wars by a young Hera Syndula. He was her best friend for many years and stuck by her when she became the leader of The Ghost crew during Star Wars: Rebels.

His snarky attitude could rival that of R2-D2, and yet he has double the spunk. Chopper is also a dedicated rebel and has wracked up quite a few successful missions during his time. He is most memorable because of his unique sounds and small yet commanding presence.

2 C-3PO

C-3PO From Star Wars: Rise Of Skywalker

Everyone should be able to recognize this golden protocol droid. C-3PO was designed and built by Anakin Skywalker as a child on Tatooine and has been a part of all the Skywalker family’s lives. Initially designed as a translator protocol droid that was fluent in over 6 million forms of communication, he quickly became more than that.

He is one of the more important side characters in Star Wars because of how much he has lived through and how much knowledge he has. Threepio has also always been voiced and played by the legendary Anthony Daniels.

1 R2-D2

R2-D2 From Star Wars: A New Hope

R2-D2 is by far the best droid in all of Star Wars. Like his friend C-3PO, he has been around since the very beginning of the Skywalker family and is one of the few characters to see Anankin Skywalker alive. He is most notably remembered as the companion of Luke Skywalker, the best Jedi of all time, and as the co-pilot on his X-Wing.

R2 is most memorable for everyone in the universe understanding what he says, even though no one watching can understand. He is also the most stubborn droid who is always set in his ways and is always ready for an adventure. He is fiercely loyal and one of the best Star Wars characters of all time.
