Earlier this month, word broke that Star Trek: Lower Decks will end after Season 5 premieres this fall. However, series creator Mike McMahan has already lined up his next show. Via Variety, Comedy Central has ordered a new comedy series based on Sega’s Golden Axe video games.
McMahan co-created Golden Axe with showrunner Joe Chandler, and they will co-write the first episode and executive produce the series. According to the show’s official description, the series will follow “veteran warriors Ax Battler, Tyris Flare, and Gilius Thunderhead as they once again battle to save Yuria from the evil giant Death Adder who just won’t seem to stay dead. Fortunately, this time they have the inexperienced and underprepared Hampton Squib on their side.”
The voice cast for the series has already been lined up with Spartacus star Liam McIntyre as Ax Battler, Lisa Gilroy as Tyris Flare, Matthew Rhys as Gilius Thunderhead, Danny Pudi as Hampton Squib, and Carl Tart as Chronos “Evil” Lait. Comedy Central also shared the following character descriptions.
Titmouse will provide the animation for Golden Axe, which doesn’t currently have a release date.
