Square Enix has revealed that Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake is still in development after a long period without any updates. We now know the platforms it will be available on, and more details will be shared soon.
Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake was announced in 2021 as a reimagining of the classic game in the series, using the striking graphical style that Square Enix has popularized with games like Triangle Strategy and Octopath Traveler.
Unfortunately, the role-playing series has been on hiatus for a while, and many began to doubt the progress of this project. Fortunately, Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake is still alive and well.
On the official X/Twitter account of the series, a small post was shared showing the game’s logo and confirming the platforms it will be available on. More updates are expected soon.
The post reads, “The Legend of Erdrick is approaching,” and we now know that Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC (Steam).
The original game was released several decades ago, and longtime fans of the series are eager to learn all that awaits in this remake, which can also introduce new players to the Japanese franchise.

With the platform confirmation, it’s expected that Square Enix will reveal more details soon, as this announcement has sparked some theories among fans. What if Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake turns out to be something more?
Remember that Erdrick is also related to the first two games in the series, leading some to think that this project could be more ambitious than expected. Either way, we’ll have to wait for official announcements.
In the meantime, we also await updates on other projects in the series. It’s worth noting that Dragon Quest has experienced a significant loss, as the main producer recently changed positions within Square Enix.
As for other projects, it has been mentioned that Final Fantasy IX will receive a remake in the coming years, but this will not be the case for Final Fantasy X.
