Buy today, play in the Spring.

Nintendo has announced today during its latest Nintendo Direct broadcast that Splatoon 3 will be getting some DLC in the near future, though the Expansion Pass for the upcoming DLC is available to buy today.

Announced with a trailer showing off some of the new content, the Expansion Pass will grant players access to two waves of DLC, with Wave One Inkopolis releasing sometime this Spring, and the second, Wave 2 Side Order coming at a later date this year. No specific release window has been given for Wave 2 Side Order at this time.

So, what’s in the Splatoon 3 DLC? Wave One will give players a chance to go back to Inkopolis, the hub world from the first Splatoon game serving as an alternative hub world for players to hang out in between bouts and battles. The other part of the Wave One DLC is the return of the Booyah Base, where players can buy their gear and deck out their characters. The items on offer remain the same as those in Splatsville, though there will be a mix of familiar and fresh faces in the shops.

Additionally, the Inkopolis hub will work just as the regular hub does in Splatoon 3, so Amiibo functionality is a given for those worried about their collection going to waste. That means Salmon Run, Table Turf Battle, and The Shoal will also work as normal in this alternative throwback hub world. There’s even the added bonus of performances by The Squid Sisters who will perform in Inkopolis during Splatfest events.

The Wave 2 DLC, dubbed Side Order, is an all-new single-player campaign that looks to be something a little bit different. Instead of the bright and vibrant worlds that Splatoon is known for, the trailer instead shows an Inkling standing in a world devoid of the usual Splatoon charm and color. The trailer doesn’t go into much detail about this Splatoon 3 single-player DLC, though more will surely be shown before its release later this year.

While neither DLC is actually available just yet, eager players can guarantee their spot with the Expansion Pass which is on sale right now on the Nintendo eShop.
