Spider-Man star Tom Holland breaks silence on comeback with bad news | Films | Entertainment

Marvel’s version of Spider-Man was put to a definitive close with the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home back in 2021.

Since then, it seemed as if Tom Holland’s rendition of the wall-crawler had come to an end. The British actor himself fed into these rumours when he confirmed he had not yet signed on for a new Spider-Man movie just yet.

But the star has just broken his silence on how things are going with his Marvel contracts behind the scenes.

Speaking at the premiere of his new Apple TV Plus show, The Crowded Room, Holland told Variety he has been having “meetings” with Marvel about his impending comeback as Peter Parker.

“I can’t talk about that,” he added, before confirming: “But I can say that we have been having meetings.”

Unfortunately, Holland confirmed not everything is going as swimmingly as he would have liked.

He added: “We’ve put the meetings on pause in solidarity with the writers.”

“There’s been multiple conversations had, but at this point, it’s very, very early stages,” the 27-year-old went on.

The Writers Guild of America began striking on May 2, and there is no end date to the industrial action just yet.

This is no doubt bad news for fans, as this writers’ strike could mean Spider-Man 4 is even further away from hitting cinemas than ever before.

Thankfully, Holland will reportedly be making a comeback to the series with his favourite co-star.

Earlier this week, Sony boss Amy Pascal was quizzed over bringing Spider-Man back to the big screen for a fourth adventure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“Are we going to make another movie?” she scoffed. “Of course we are. We’re in the process, but the writers strike – nobody is working during the strike. We’re all being supporters and whenever they get themselves together, we’ll get started.”

Until then, fans can catch up on everything Spider-Man on Disney Plus.
