Snake Eater Features Modern and Classic Controls

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, a remake of Konami’s Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, looks great in the most recent gameplay trailer. While it retains the same story, voice, music and gameplay that defined the original, the remake does offer some new features and improvements. Its official website revealed an updated battle damage system that can leave permanent scars after injuries.

However, the publisher also confirmed a new “more modern” control style. While not explicitly outlined, it allows players to “focus entirely on the game and the immersive thrills of the survival stealth experience.” Of course, the classic control scheme is present, which “more closely recreates the feel of the original game.”

There’s also a new third-person camera, which follows behind Naked Snake, zooming in over the shoulder when aiming. Of course, those who prefer the overhead camera can opt for the same.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater launches this year for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC, if PlayStation is to be believed. Rumors note that a delay could occur, pushing it into 2025. Regardless, an extended gameplay look is coming June 11th on the Official Xbox Podcast, so stay tuned for more details.
