Skyblivion remake mod gets a release window, but it isn’t soon

It’s been a while since we last heard of a big update from Skyblivion, but we finally have a release window for the long-awaited modding project. Unfortunately, the date for Skyblivion is far into the future. But since this is such a massive undertaking, the wait time is understandable. Skyblivion has its release date set for sometime in 2025 at the latest. There’s a small chance we could see it sooner, but it’s a date to look forward to regardless.

The accompanying release date trailer for Skyblivion shows off the sheer scale of the mod. From the Oblivion Gates to the Imperial City, and the game’s lush forests, it’s all been recreated in Skyrim‘s engine. Skyblivion is essentially a full-blown remake of Oblivion, but with Skyrim‘s more “modern” upgrades. Plus, the mod will be free for everyone to download when it is released. Players will need to own a copy of both Skyrim and Oblivion to make it work, however.

Skyblivion lands in 2025

As far as large-scale modding projects go, Skyblivion is a very impressive effort. Its team of volunteer developers has been hard at work for years to bring Cyrodiil to life. And from what we’ve seen so far, it looks to have paid off. Skyblivion will include all the original quests, enemies, and even cut content from Oblivion. Of course, there will also be some new content to find throughout Cyrodiil. There are likely to be some omissions from Oblivion here and there, but it seems that the mod has stayed faithful where it counts. And again, with so much content, it’s easy to see why the Skyblivion release date is so far away.

Skyblivion is still a long way from release, with around two more years of development to go. But again, this is a seriously impressive feat. The official Skyblivion website has even more information about the mod, including updates and a full list of its developers. So be sure to check it out to see what to expect from the mod.
