Saturday has arrived, and with it arrives Weekend Reading 116 (not to mention Q-Con, if you happen to be in the Southern California area today).

What are you planning on reading this weekend? The Beat wants to hear from you! Give us a shout-out in the comment section, or over on social media @comicsbeat, and let us know what you’re thinking.

Weekend Reading 116: Treehouse of Horror & The Honeys.

AVERY KAPLAN: Somehow I missed the publication of a third The Simpsons: Treehouse of Horror collection, From Beyond the Grave, so I’ll be checking out that this weekend. The book features work by a whole lot of creators, including Patton Oswalt, Carol Lay, Thomas Lennon, Pia Guerra, Jason Ho, Gerry Duggan, and Brian Posehn. Then as far as prose goes, I’ll be checking out The Honeys by Ryan La Sala.

Weekend Reading 116: Challengers of the Unknown Must Die!

TAIMUR DAR: With the tragic passing of comics artist Tim Sale this week, I’m going to be reading some of his seminal comics. It occurred to me that I never read the 8-issue Challengers of the Unknown miniseries, Sale’s first collaboration with writer Jeph Loeb, that was collected in the Challengers of the Unknown Must Die! TPB. As luck would have it, the miniseries is available to read in the DC Universe Infinite app. I’ll also be reading their Hulk: Gray miniseries which is on comiXology Unlimited.

Weekend Reading 116: Justice League Dark: Lords of Order.

CY BELTRAN: I’m still on a James Tynion IV kick from last week’s reading, so I’ll be checking out volume two of his Justice League: Dark run from the ‘New Justice’ Era in 2018. I only started diving deep into DC within the past couple of years, so I missed this series as it was coming out, but I read volume one this past week and it blew me away. Volume two, titled Lords of Order, has a ton of talented creators, including Ram V, Alvaro Martínez Bueno, Raul Fernandez, Guillem March, Daniel Sampre, Mark Buckingham, Miguel Mendonça, and many, many others.
