Following the recent beginning of the Devil’s Moon event, Crytek has announced the first wildcard event, which adds massive infernos to three of Hunt: Showdown’s multiplayer maps.

The Devil’s Moon event kicked off on December 14th and will run right through until February 14th. Over the course of the event, various wildcard events will take place for a short period of time but will add further challenges and shake up the current meta of Hunt: Showdown. This first event will be coming to a close later today, which saw massive flames around three different maps, acting as both visual barriers and actual fires that will burn players who get too close. These flames will not spread and can be located relatively easily on their map, but now it offers new possibilities for enemy hunters in maps that many may be familiar with.

These flames can’t be put out by the players and are simply more obstacles to overcome or work around. They also operate as usual fire should the player touch them, burning away their health permanently and limiting the hunter’s maximum health in all following games until it is bought back from the store between games. With the flames centered around the map’s forests, many players will be stuck on the wide open paths and become a much easier target.

Should you miss the first inferno, it’s very likely the developers will be bringing it back in the coming weeks during the Devil’s Moon event. During this event, they will be activating different wildcards, switching things up for those who are playing heavily during this time to earn more event points. During the Devil’s Moon, players choose one of three factions they will be a part of. For each game completed, players will earn faction points that will lead to unique rewards based on the faction they are a part of.

Along with the faction reward system, the Devil’s Moon also comes with its own battle pass in effect for the duration of the event. The event store also sells holiday-themed items with a darker Hunt: Showdown twist. While the Inferno only lasts 24 hours at a time, players can expect it to return again before the events end on February 14th.
