Should you switch Vocations often in Dragon’s Dogma 2? Answered

While you’re free to stay with one Vocation for the entirety of your Dragon’s Dogma 2 playthrough, should you switch your Vocations often? I’ve wondered this question myself as someone who doesn’t want to leave the Sorcerer Vocation after switching once.

Is it good to switch Vocations often in Dragon’s Dogma 2?

There are only a few benefits to switching Vocations often in Dragon’s Dogma 2, but you should not switch constantly. It’s perfectly okay to stay as one of the first basic Vocations throughout your entire playthrough, or even stick to one Advanced Vocation. But the game often encourages you to switch your Vocations, so what are the benefits?

First off, switching Vocations and leveling them up can unlock Augments. Augments are passive buffs you can equip, and each Vocation can unlock six. The cool thing about Augments is that you can equip Augments of any Vocation, so long as you’ve unlocked them already.

There are certain Augments from other Vocations that can benefit you as your current Vocation, so it’s recommended that you switch to that Vocation and level it up until you’ve unlocked your desired Augments to create the best Augment combinations. But what if I told you that you didn’t have to resort to doing it the hard way?

Did you know that leveling up the Warfarer Vocation will level up other learned Vocations at the same time? I didn’t know this until recently, and it’s super handy for unlocking new Augments without having to constantly swap Vocations.

It’s also important to know that you’ll increase in different stats depending on your Vocation. Each time you reach a new level, depending on your Vocation, you’ll gain a certain amount of stat boosts in specific stats. Warfarer actually boosts all your stats, which is another reason to upgrade Warfarer.

Overall, I believe it’s beneficial to occasionally switch Vocations often in Dragon’s Dogma 2, but it’s not necessary. You’ll have to swap to the proper gear each time, and your stats upon leveling up can adjust in different ways depending on your current Vocation.

I recommend everyone at least upgrade the Warfarer Vocation to unlock Augments from all Vocations. Besides your Arisen’s Vocation, you may also be wondering what the best Pawn Vocations are.
