When you finally finish Diablo 4‘s Prologue, you have the choice to start Acts I, II, or III first. This can give you either a lot of freedom, or a lot of indecision. Some of these Acts recommend that you start them at a higher character level. Also, what if the story messes up because of the order you play them in? We’ll answer whether or not you should play the Acts in order in Diablo 4.

What is the best order to play the Diablo 4 Acts in?

For any new player, this can be a tough decision. While you can play Act I at whatever level you end the Prologue in, Acts II and III are different. The game recommends you start Act II at level 10, whereas Act III is higher at level 15. You can certainly start them at a lower level, but you may find the combat difficult. So if you’re only worried about combat difficulty, you should play the Acts in order.

But the only issue with this is that once you play through Act I, your character will probably surpass the recommended levels for Acts II and III anyway. Technically, you can even participate in Acts I-III at the same time, and start the harder ones as soon as you’re at the right level. Especially if you play at a higher World Tier, you’ll be leveling up faster than normal.

So what about the story? What is the answer to if you should you play the Diablo 4 Acts in order for story reasons? Well, no matter which Act you play first, the story in each Act is separate. Your character in each Act is going after a different lead to find Lilith, in totally different areas on the map. Luckily, you don’t have to worry about spoiling yourself if you play Act III before Act I.

Personally, I played most of Act I in the Beta, so I’m saving that Act for last. I started with Act II, and I’m now on Act III. I can assure you that none of the stories overlap, so you can play them however you want.
