Unveiling new details about the roguelike Shiren the Wanderer: The Mystery Dungeon of Serpentcoil Island we get to learn about some interesting features such as the Sumo status, big monsters, and new characters.

Sumo Up

Just as it sounds Shiren will gain further Sumo bonuses when his fullness reaches over 150, but they will disappear when he’s down to 120. With an increase in Attack and HP, he will also be able to bypass traps by crushing them with his Sumo strength, with the downside of preventing him from using items that let him move.

Big Enemies

Another realm with giant monsters called Behemoths can be accessed through mysterious gates. These gates may appear in dungeons and release the Behemoth inside. Behemoths are much stronger than normal monsters, with very high Attack and no weak spots on their front and sides. Players should run the other way if they see them.

Players can test themselves in the Monster Dojo which is a place where players can practice their skills and strategies. The dungeons are simulated by creating dungeons with monsters, items, and traps they have encountered before.

Sacred Items

The Mystery Dungeon of Serpentcoil Island has a new feature: Sacred Items. These are special equipment with random abilities that are enhanced. They come in two types: Blue and Golden. Golden items are harder to find, and their effects change every time. Some Sacred Items have a rare kind of Rune called Natural Runes, which have unique effects that are not found anywhere else.

New Characters

The game also introduces four new characters: Hibiki, Sokusen, Tugai, and Seki. Hibiki is the Red Orca Pirates’ quartermaster who hates greedy people and wants to find a specific treasure on Serpentcoil Island. Sokusen is Hibiki’s loyal assistant and the Red Orca Pirates’ boatswain, who joins her on her quest. Tugai is the leader of the Black Shark Pirates, who comes to Serpentcoil Island to take all of its treasures for himself. Seki is the chief of a ninja clan that lives on Serpentcoil Island, who is known for her generosity and beloved by her people.

These are some interesting new features for Shiren the Wanderer: The Mystery Dungeon of Serpentcoil Island, the Sumo status should be a fun one to tank your way through some challenges. Previously, The Mystery Dungeon of Serpentcoil Island was revealed to be coming to NA and EU on February 27th 2024 as a high-risk, high-reward kind of game.
