TLC is no stranger to hosting controversial reality shows, and now they’re back with another outlandish show called Seeking Brother Husband which follows four polyandrous couples. During the season premiere earlier this week, fans met newlyweds Mike and Elisa. They saw Mike open up about his feelings of jealousy when Elisa began her hunt for a second lover to add to their relationship on a dating site.
In Sunday night’s episode of TLC’s Sister Wives spin-off, Elisa was seen sitting on the couple’s couch as she asked her husband Mike if he wanted to see her dating app profile.
After Mike hesitantly agreed, he then scrolled through her profile, as he complimented his wife’s “great” photo.
The pair then laughed together at Elisa’s raunchy description which read: “Intimacy and a deep connection is important to me, so if you can’t go deep, no pun intended, then this is going to work out.”
Elisa then defended her choice of words by saying: “Ok well that’s funny right?”, to which Mike admitted: “It caught me off guard.”
In a confessional, the couple revealed how it was “both of” their “ideas” to seek other partners.
So it didn’t come as a shock to viewers when Mike appeared to be comfortable with the idea of Elisa searching for a new person to join their marriage.
However, Mike’s calm demeanour changed when she asked about his genuine emotions.
Mike revealed in the show’s confessional scene that: “Elisa seeing or dating other men is one thing.
“But actually physically seeing her with someone else is going to be a bit of a challenge and a bit different.”
He then admitted that he “never actually experienced that” and that the pair hadn’t “really gotten to that point.”
“I kinda opened up a whole new bag of emotions, a little more jealousy [and] more uncertainty,” Mike explained.
He then began to seem regretful of the decision to open his relationship up as he went on to say: “I keep reminding myself, this is what we wanted.”
In another shocking moment, Elisa admitted that she cheated on Mike when they were dating because she had a “really intense connection with somebody else” despite her happiness with Mike.
She recalled: “It was like, ‘why do I feel this way about this other person if our relationship is so good?’
“I didn’t know at the time that we can have a great relationship and I can still like somebody else,” she explained.
Prior to her revelation, Elisa also opened up about her fertility struggles.
Following Elisa’s infidelity, the couple evaluated their relationship and decided that they wanted to continue it with multiple partners.
