The TV adaptation of Naughty Dog’s hit video game of the same name recently premiered its season finale, which once again smashed viewership records, bringing in over 8.2 million watchers.

It only took two episodes of the adaptation to premiere on HBO before the studio confirmed a second season was in the works. Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann and showrunner Craig Mazin will adapt the second video game, The Last Of Us: Part II, with the pair recently confirming that the adaptation would take multiple seasons.

Although the show has currently only been confirmed for a second season, Druckmann has gone on record to say “it’s more than one season.” Showrunner Craig Mazin also discussed how the upcoming season will differ from the game, saying “It will be different just as this season was different [from the first game]. Sometimes it will be different radically, and sometimes it will be [barely] different at all. But it’s going to be different and it will be its own thing. It won’t be exactly like the game. It will be the show that Neil and I want to make. But we are making it with Bella.”

Fans even believe they may have spotted a teaser for the second season in the show’s season finale, as a silhouette escaping the hospital appears to have a striking resemblance to Abbey, a key character in Part II. However, Druckmann recently went on record to shut down the fan theories, saying that it’s not true.

Exactly who will be portraying Abbey in HBO’s The Last Of Us Season 2 is yet to be known, but one thing’s for sure, we’ve got quite some time to wait until we see her on our screens.
