Developer Sabotage Studio has announced that Sea of Stars will feature a cooperative mode.
Through a trailer, Sabotage Studio made an announcement to celebrate a new milestone in the success of the JRPG, which has managed to gather more than 5 million players worldwide since its launch. Of course, this figure also takes into account all the people who have been able to try it through PlayStation Plus Extra and Game Pass, but these are still outstanding results considering the size of the project and the huge success.
That seems surreal when already in December we were advancing that the Winner of The Best Indie Title had surpassed 4 Million Players.
As for the cooperative mode, called Single Player+ in reference to the NG+, it will allow up to three different players to travel together through the world of Sea of Stars to make exploration more enjoyable, find secrets, and seek treasures. As revealed in the brief trailer accompanying the news, it gives a glimpse of what moving with Zale, Valere, and Garl through one of the game’s first areas will be like, with a bubble a like Super Mario Bros. that will bring together allies who move off what we can see on the screen.
It’s not just about exploring, because they promise a new mechanic of “cooperative timed attacks” that will give us the possibility to get more out of the game’s combat. This Single Player+ mode is still in development, although Sabotage confirms that more details will be published soon.
Sea of Stars has received great reception from both the public and critics; it won the award for best independent game at The Game Awards 2023 and received honorable mentions in the categories of game of the year, best design, and best visual art during the Game Developers Choice Awards.
