Scarlett Johansson is in talks to star in the next Jurassic World movie, according to reports. The Hollywood Reporter said it has “confirmed” this rumor, following a report from Jeff Sneider in early March that said Johansson was offered a lead role in the film.

Johansson is no stranger to mega-franchises, of course, as she starred as Black Widow in numerous Marvel films, the latest of which was 2021’s Black Widow.

As for the new Jurassic World movie, Gareth Edwards (Godzilla, Rogue One) is lined up to direct, with a script from Jurassic Park’s David Koepp.

Jurassic Park, which was based on the 1990 Michael Crichton novel, premiered in 1993 with Steven Spielberg directing. Spielberg came back to direct 1997’s The Lost World, with Joe Johnston stepping in to direct 2001’s Jurassic Park III. Universal brought the series back in 2015 with Jurassic World, which was followed by Fallen Kingdom (2018) and Dominion (2022).

Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard starred in the Jurassic World movies, but they’re not expected to come back for the next one. Also not lined up to appear are the original trilogy’s stars, including Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum, and Laura Dern.

Steven Spielberg, the mastermind behind the original Jurassic Park, will reportedly serve as executive producer through his Amblin Entertainment banner.

The new Jurassic Movie already has a release date–July 2, 2025–so if that date holds, it’s expected official casting announcements and other information will come in due time.
