Saints Row Roadmap Reveals Three Expansions And Dead Island 2 Crossover

Developer Volition has released a new roadmap for Saints Row, detailing all the new content coming to the rebooted action-adventure game before this fall, including three expansions and a Dead Island 2 crossover that brings new weapons and cosmetics.

For the upcoming crossover, new items inspired by Jacob and Amy, including a new emote, a weapon, and decorations, will be available on April 11. As part of the post-launch content, Saints Row will receive three expansions between May and August, which will add new campaign missions, weapons, vehicles, cosmetics, and gameplay overhauls. They will be available to buy separately, but players who own the expansion pass will receive them at no cost. Two of the expansions will expand the game’s campaign mode, while the other one will bring a new solo mode within a twisted version of Santo Ileso.

There are also new city districts that will be free to all players, where they will participate in events and complete activities. The first of these districts is Sunshine Springs, which will be added to Santo Ileso in May. “We’re still hard at work refining the Saints Row experience through more quality of life updates, continued bug fixing, and community requested features including a photo mode, retooled combat, a whole new emotes system, and more.” developer Volition said in the official website.

The first expansion will release in May, which will add a new district, selfie mode, and combat improvements. Afterward, the brand-new solo mode will be available with the second expansion, which is set to launch in July. The latest DLC in the roadmap, which is optimized for a single-player campaign experience, will land in August 2023. Information about the new districts and solo mode is scarce, but players can likely expect them to bring a bunch of new content to the city of Santo Ileso.

Having released a number of patches to address performance and gameplay issues since last year, Volition is now gearing up to bring new content to keep players engaged. In our Saints Row review, we said: “Saints Row is just a watered-down version of what was once an over-the-top and exciting series. Graphically, the game could have probably been released on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 As for the actual gameplay, shooting, and driving felt clunky and outdated.”
