Remember that mysterious project that 505 Games teased before The Game Awards? Well, it’s Crime Boss: Rockay City! A first-person shooter set in the 90s in the fictional Rockay City that looks very much like Florida’s Miami.
Aside from the game’s impressive visuals, Crime Boss: Rockay City features a bold cast of characters played by well-known Hollywood stars including Kim Basinger, Michael Madsen, Danny Trejo, Danny Glover, Chuck Norris, and Vanilla Ice.
As you can guess from the game’s name, it is all about crimes and chaos. While we don’t really have a clue about the story of the game and how things will collapse between each one of these dangerous characters, it seems like you can expect a pretty fun and chaotic story similar to Scarface and other Hollywood crime movies that represent Florida and Miami as a home of crime in the 80s and 90s.
Crime Boss: Rockay City will be developed by Ingame Studio as a heist-oriented first-person shooter, featuring both single-player and co-op modes. The game targets a launch on March 28, 2023. It will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The PC version will be exclusive to Epic Games Store, and there is a special offer for it for a limited time. If you pre-order the game until December 10 on Epic Games Store, you will receive a 40% discount, which is a tempting amount for playing a game on day one of launch.
Prior to the official announcement, it was assumed that this new project would be related to Payday 3, but it is a new game from a new studio. Crime Boss: Rockay City is the debut title from Ingame Studio, a team of over 70 developers based in Brno, Czech Republic. Currently, the studio is hiring for multiple positions as they try to expand their team of developers for this ambitious project.
Honestly, it was somehow surprising to see so many well-known Hollywood stars partnering with a rookie studio on a brand-new IP. Of course, 505 Games is already a well-known publisher in the world, and probably big enough for asking Hollywood stars for cooperation.
