Rise Of The Triad Remaster Releases 2023

Rise of the Triad was a classic retro shooter originally pitched as a follow-up game to id Software’s Wolfenstein 3D, but soon it had become its own thing after the idea was scrapped and Apogee Software bought the license rights. The game continued to receive expansion packs and updates after its original release in 1995, and now fans have the chance to enjoy all original game episodes (in addition to new content and multiplayer modes) with Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition, releasing in early 2023 on PS5, Xbox Series, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

Rise of the Triad originally received a remake in 2013 by the same dedicated studio, but it has received mixed reviews from critics due to its reliance on outdated designs and mechanics. The new Ludicrous edition, however, makes use of modern hardware to bring out the best qualities of the original game, without having to deal with any shortcomings related to the old generation. The game will be available in 4K resolution at 60 FPS, along with an increased field of view, revamped UI and textures, and quality-of life-enhancements such as achievements, cloud saves, and many other modern conveniences.

Players will have the privilege of playing with either the 1995 or the 2013 soundtracks, and there will also be a new, easy-to-use level editor included, enabling fans will be able to design their own little slices of chaos. The steam description also mentions cut content from “Lost” Betas, which might be a reference to certain rejected levels and artwork, or other gimmicks that were too overwhelming for the memory requirements at the time. So while we are waiting for further information from the studio, we have at least confirmed that LUDICROUS GIBS are back on the menu.
