Ringo Ishikawa dev releases latest game, Fading Afternoon

yeo, the developer of such titles as The Friends of Ringo Ishikawa and Arrest of a Stone Buddha released their next game Fading Afternoon on September 14.

Fading Afternoon is an RPG beat ‘em up following Seiji Maruyama, a member of the yakuza who has recently been released from prison. Per the game’s page on Steam, there are multiple endings, a variety of minigames, and an entire city to explore. Admittedly, yeo was sparse on the game’s details, but one sentence has this writer immediately intrigued:

“Old tropes are here but you can choose to not follow them. The question is — does anything really matter that much now?”

yeo released The Friends of Ringo Ishikawa on May 17, 2018, and their second game Arrest of a Stone Buddha on February 27, 2020. A manga adaptation of Ringo Ishikawa was published later in 2020, on October 9. Fading Afternoon marks the developer’s return after more than three years.

Fading Afternoon will normally set you back $19.99, but if you buy before September 21, you can get it for $17.99, which represents a 10% discount. At the time of writing, the game has been received quite well, earning a “Very Positive” label just a day following its release.
