Rift Apart Sees PlayStation’s Third-Worst Steam Launch to Date

With the likes of God of War, Marvel’s Spider-Man, and Horizon Zero Dawn, Sony has enjoyed plenty of success on PC with ports of its first party PlayStation titles, but not all of them have had similar luck. A handful of PlayStation’s PC releases have failed to attract sizeable crowds, and it seems the most recent one falls in that category.

Insomniac Games’ action platformer Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart became available for PC last week, though players don’t seem to have flocked to the game right out the game. As per SteamDB, on the day of its release, the game saw a peak concurrent user count on Steam of just 8,757 players.

That makes Rift Apart PlayStation’s third-worst launch on the platform to date. It slots in above Returnal (6,691 peak concurrent users on Steam at launch) and Sackboy: A Big Adventure (610), and below Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection (10,851).

You can check out a table of the launch numbers for all of Sony’s PC releases so far below.

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart is also available on PS5, where it had sold over 1.1 million units as of July 2021.
