Returnal PC Port Announced For Early 2023

Returnal is officially coming to PC, as confirmed by Housemarque at last night’s Game Awards ceremony. The studio’s critically acclaimed third-person shooter will arrive on PC in early 2023. Sony also shared a new announcement video showcasing the footage captured on the game’s PC port.

There has been a myriad of reports indicating Returnal’s addition to the list of growing PlayStation titles on PC, but now the news has officially been confirmed by both Housemarque and PlayStation in a new announcement trailer. An official Steam store page for the upcoming port is also live, featuring screenshots and the ability to wishlist the game prior to its release next year.

The official blog post on the title’s PC debut reads that Returnal will come with a set of improvements and tweaks to offer a stable experience on PC. That is not surprising though as the recent leaks revealed the game’s PC menu settings back in September. Based on the leak, the upcoming PC port offers NVIDIA DLSS and AMD FSR, which are upscaling technologies that increase the game’s performance with an AI algorithm. While the support for these technologies has not been officially confirmed, the blog post states that there will be more info before the game’s launch on PC in early 2023.

The announcement also states that the endless mode will also be included in the PC version. It reads “…and the bells and whistles are there to support the gameplay experience including the relentless challenge of the Tower of Sisyphus and online co-op mode.”

Returnal’s Steam page followed the port announcement and revealed the title’s system requirements as well. Those who would like to enjoy the dark roguelike will have to have at least NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 in their rig. And the recommended system requirements of the game suggest at least 32 GB RAM to fully experience Returnal’s glory on PC.

Returnal takes place on Atropos, a mysterious planet that consists of extremely dangerous places where Selene, the protagonist, tries to break the cycle that forces her to endure a never ending loop of cosmic horror. Returnal previously took home the Best Action Game award during The 2021 Game Awards ceremony and also won a multitude of awards in other prestigious award ceremonies. The 2021 roguelike shooter also received four BAFTA awards including the Best Game awards alongside Music, Audio Achievement, and Performer in a Leading Role.

The highly anticipated title will come to PC in early 2023.
