Return to Castlevania coming to PS5 with decadent new physical editions

Motion Twin, the developer and publisher behind Dead Cells, has announced via Twitter that the game, along with its latest DLC pack, Return to Castlevania, will be coming to PS5 on August 11 this year. This release will coincide with two new physical versions of the game, incorporating the new DLC as well as all previous content.

Signature Moves

This is great news for owners of the next-gen console who have been waiting to sink their teeth into the game and its latest DLC, but it’s also exciting for console players in general, as the new physical versions will be released for PS4 and Nintendo Switch as well as PS5. This boxed release will include the base game, as well as every DLC pack released to date, which includes Rise of the Giant, The Bad Seed, Fatal Falls, The Queen and the Sea, and, of course, Return to Castlevania. It will also incorporate the collective balancing and quality-of-life changes made by a total of 34 free updates as well, ensuring that those who pick these versions up will be getting the most up-to-date Dead Cells experience possible.

When it comes to the physical versions, players will have two options to choose from: the Standard edition, which is the expected boxed copy of the game, and the Signature edition, which crams in a huge assortment of goodies on top of the disc itself. These goodies include enamel pins, an art booklet, postcards, a soundtrack CD, outer sleeves, and a dashing retro-style reversible cover that emulates the original Castlevania’s iconic box art. Both versions are being delivered by Signature Edition Games, a company dedicated to producing luxury physical versions of popular indie titles, including Darkest Dungeon and Moonlighter.

Both physical versions of the game are available to pre-order now via the Signature Edition Games website. Dead Cells, and the Return to Castlevania DLC, are also available on Steam.
