Resident Evil 4 is an iconic entry in the Resident Evil franchise. It’s undoubtedly a fan-favorite within the community. On top of this, it’s also one of the greatest well-balanced games in the series. This doesn’t come as a shock since everything about Resident Evil 4 engrosses you with its bizarre story and eerie atmosphere. From the moment you tag along on Leon Kennedy’s journey to find the president’s daughter in a strange village, you’ll be mesmerized right then and there.
Even though it’s well-balanced, Resident Evil 4 is a difficult game the first time around. However, oddly enough, the puzzles and lurking enemies aren’t the most challenging parts of this game. Instead, it’s the ruthless bosses who stand in your way that test both your patience and your abilities.
Because of how limited the space is when you encounter them, you’re bound to easily die once or twice at the hands of these twin sisters. They quickly charge and strike at you with their fatal chainsaws, all while you try to avoid the ravenous villagers trying to kill you.
If you’re prepared for them, then it’s easy to kill the Bella Sisters. However, it’s important to note that they swiftly get back up after being knocked down. Overall, these terrifying sisters move identically, making defeating them feel even more intimidating.
The Garrador is a recurring enemy throughout Resident Evil 4. However, it’s Leon Kennedy’s first encounter with one that’s truly a ruthless boss fight. Locked up in a cell, this frightening towering enemy breaks out after being awoken by your presence.
Since this boss is blind, it seems like this would be an easy fight. And, while this is true if you know what you’re doing, this Garrador hears every step you take. However, if you shoot the bells around the room, you can distract them and attack them from behind. But, at the same time, this monster can eventually destroy the bells if you’re not quick enough.
From the second the villagers lead out this brutal beast, it becomes apparent that this boss fight is going to be action-packed. After killing those who stand in his path, there’s no doubt that just seeing his murderous nature alone is heart-pumping.
El Gigante will constantly try to strike you down with rocks and trees. Dodging this isn’t too difficult, but it’s when he tries to grab you that really makes this fight harder. If you get caught in his grasp, you frantically have to free yourself as fast as you can, or else you’ll quickly die by his hand.
Despite Ramon Salazar being one of the main enemies in the game, his boss fight is a bit underwhelming in a visual sense. But, on the other hand, this fight is also incredibly difficult. It forces you to multitask, which can be a bit hard when it comes to his flying tentacles everywhere.
Salazar’s fight is simple to beat, as you only have to hit a small target to defeat him. But, because of how much he jerks around, you have to go about the fight both offensively and defensively to be able to hit him where it hurts. All-in-all, be prepared to fire rapidly and defend yourself when it comes to this boss fight.
The massive size of this aquatic creature is nothing short of shocking. Your coast through the water becomes suddenly interrupted as this large bloodthirsty bio-organic weapon emerges and nearly swallows you whole. Trapping you on a boat with barely any room to move around, Del Lago’s boss fight is a thrilling yet stressful experience.
It’s hard to navigate this fight due to the controls and limited walking space. Everything can make you feel a bit anxious as you’re trying to work out the controls while this huge monster stops at nothing to try to capture you in its lethal bite.
While other bosses with small areas are difficult, the amount of space you have when combating Lord Saddler is another ballpark. Luring him toward specific areas to properly stun him and strike a heavy blow is key to getting by in this fight. But, of course, with this fight having such a small space, this won’t be a walk in the park.
Saddler swiftly closes the gap between any open space near you, his intimidating appearance everlastingly towering over you. Winning this boss fight is tricky because you’ll mainly have to react quickly to the objects being thrown at you. In the end, defeating him comes all in due time.
Considered one of the best fights in Resident Evil 4, Bitores Mendez’s boss fight is horrifying just from his character design alone. Being at the ruthless hands of this contorted and bloody figure is simply a chilling experience that many players will never forget.
If you learn about Mendez’s weaknesses, using great timing and the right weapons will make this fight work out in your favor. However, it’s also easy to get caught off-guard in this battle. It’s important to be wary of his second phase because of his ability to be quicker and harder to hit.
Jack Krauser’s fight is on the incredibly frustrating side of things. He’s deemed the most challenging boss in Resident Evil 4’s main story; his level design is one of the most confusing to take in at first. Despite taking place in an area full of space, Krauser’s swift acrobatic movements feel claustrophobic.
Oddly enough, trying to figure out how to defeat Krauser once and for all is satisfying. You deeply have to think about your next move, making this a rather tactical fight to go about. And it’s from this fact alone that Krauser’s fight is certainly both entertaining and complex.
While killing Verdugo during his boss fight is optional, it’s more than worth giving it a shot. At the same time, though, his bone-chilling appearance is enough to make you want to get out of this fight as quickly as possible. At first, you’ll likely be unprepared for this fight. This makes this hard fight completely iconic as you’re frantically trying to kill Verdugo with all that you have.
Getting out of this fight involves an elevator coming down to your rescue, allowing you to escape from Verdugo’s clutches. But, if you’ve decided to be brave and stick it out, be ready to have barely any HP left.
The dread of that arises from merely laying eyes on U-3 makes us jumpy and utterly frightened. It’s fair to say that this unique boss fight can cause a pit in your stomach because of how scary trying to kill U-3 really is. His movements are eerie, and the music accompanying him can strike fear into anyone’s heart.
What makes U-3 the hardest boss in Resident Evil 4 is because of how you have to solve puzzles and heavily rely on sprinting to even make it out alive. Bullets against U-3 feel useless, the tension of wondering how you can go about this fight constantly arising.
