Remnant 2 Invoker Build – The Fire Tormentor

This Remnant 2 Invoker Build Guide, the Fire Tormentor is focused on fire damage over time. The Invoker Archetype works remarkably well with many of the existing Archetypes, especially when teamed up with an Engineer. We spent quite a bit of time brainstorming and testing different combinations, and eventually came up with a unique and enjoyable build called the Fire Tormentor.

Remnant 2 Invoker Build – The Fire Tormentor

As you might expect from its name, the Fire Tormentor relies heavily on Fire-Based Mods, causing significant fire elemental damage over time. The build uses weapons and trinkets that are designed to stack Burning on enemies and maintain it throughout combat.

With this build, players don’t need to focus on hitting specific weak spots and will have frequent access to their mods, creating a smoother and more enjoyable gameplay experience. So, let’s get into building the Fire Tormentor, starting with the Archetypes

Remnant 2 Invoker Build – The Fire Tormentor: Archetypes

For this build, we’ll choose the Invoker Archetype, primarily because it gives us access to the Way of Kaeula Skill. This skill allows you to cast a Tidal Wave that not only deals elemental damage to enemies but also creates a Rainstorm covering a large area of effect. This Rainstorm inflicts the Drenched status, a recent addition to the game, causing significant impact on affected enemies.

When targets are Drenched, their movement speed drops by 10%. Plus, every few seconds, they get hit by Lightning Strikes for extra damage. Keep in mind that this damage gets split among all the enemies in the storm, so the fewer targets there are, the more intense the Lightning Strikes—especially when you’re up against bosses.

While the Way of Kaeula is a useful skill, it isn’t the centerpiece of this build. The Lightning Strikes and Tidal Wave elemental damage are a nice bonus, but the key benefit is the Haste buff it grants. Allies standing in the storm receive this buff, and we all know Haste is a fantastic advantage for any build.

Its Prime Perk, Visionary, doubles any Skill Charges you have and reduces Skill Cooldowns by 10% each time you use a skill. For this build, the Prime Perk doubles the ammunition capacity of any heavy weapon you deploy, which is something the Engineer Archetype will definitely benefit from.

The Invoker’s Damage Perk, Entranced, provides a 30% increase in Skill Damage, a 15% boost in Elemental Damage, and a 5% increase in Elemental Critical Chance. These bonuses are ideal for this build, as we’re focusing on dealing fire elemental damage from various sources.

The Invoker’s Team Perk, Communion, offers a 1% reduction in skill cooldowns and heals 2% of your max health every 3 seconds. While this might not seem like much, it’s quite handy for multiplayer runs, providing a subtle yet beneficial boost.

Lastly, the Invoker’s Relic Perk, Soothsayer, extends the duration of an active Invoker Skill by 20% based on its original length. For this build, you may need to use Relic charges to replenish your Heavy Weapon’s ammo, so having this Relic Perk is a useful advantage, giving you a bit more flexibility when managing your skills and resources.

For the second Archetype, the Engineer is the perfect fit. This choice provides access to the Flamethrower Skill, which serves as a Heavy Weapon that can be deployed during combat. When the Flamethrower is set up, it shoots intense bursts of fire, dealing significant damage to targets and, as you’d expect, setting them on fire with the Burning effect.

Next, let’s focus on the Engineer’s Damage Perk, Metalworker. This Perk boosts Skill Damage by 50% and Ranged Damage by 25%, with an additional 5% increase in Skill and Ranged Critical Chance. It’s an incredible boost for this build because Skill Damage affects your deployed turrets, and you’ll be using your Long Gun quite a bit, providing an all-around enhancement to your combat capabilities.

Remnant 2 Invoker Build – The Fire Tormentor: Weapons

The Long Gun – XMG57 “Bonesaw”

Let’s discuss the Fire Tormentor’s weapons, starting with the Long Gun. You can equip any Long Gun you like, as long as it supports the Mods we’ll discuss later. In this setup, we’re using the XMG57 “Bonesaw” because it has a large ammo capacity and reserves.

Alternatively, you can achieve higher damage with the Sparkfire Shotgun, thanks to its innate ability to apply the Burning status to targets. However, not everyone likes using shotguns, so sticking with the Bonesaw is generally recommended. But if you want to deal more damage and stack Burning effects more quickly, then the Sparkfire Shotgun is a great choice.

Mod – Firestorm

For the Mod, I’ve chosen the Firestorm Mod because of its powerful and sustained damage capabilities. Since this build emphasizes frequent use of Mods and Turrets, Firestorm is a great fit—it allows me to activate it and then focus on other tasks while it continues to deal damage, providing a consistent stream of damage to enemies. This setup ensures you can activate Mods consistently during fights, thanks to its high Mod power generation.

As a result, you’ll often have multiple Firestorms on the battlefield, delivering significant damage over time and boosting your Mod power pool. However, Firestorm can be divisive, especially in Multiplayer settings. If you find it doesn’t suit your team playstyle, consider swapping it for the Hot Shot Mod to increase the Burning stacks, or opt for the Heatwave Mod instead for a different approach to fire-based damage.

Mutator – Searing Wounds

For the Bonesaw’s Mutator, Searing Wounds is the ideal choice. This Mutator boosts the Bonesaw’s Ranged Damage by 10% against targets that are already Burning. On top of that, it can also add an extra Burning stack to enemies, enhancing the fire-based damage output of your build.

The Handgun – Repeater Pistol

For the Handgun, we’re opting for the Repeater Pistol. As with the Bonesaw, you’re free to choose any handgun you prefer, as long as it supports the Mod we’ll be recommending.

Mod – Witchfire

Turning our attention to the Repeater Pistol’s Mod, Witchfire, This Mod shoots a volatile projectile that detonates on impact, leaving a trail of fire in its wake. Enemies caught in this flaming path accumulate an additional Burning stack and take Fire Elemental damage over time. It’s an efficient way to keep damaging enemies while you focus on other aspects of the battle.

Mutator – Spellweaver

For the Repeater Pistol’s Mutator, I’ve chosen the Spellweaver Mutator. This gives a 15% boost to Mod Generation for 10 seconds and a 15% increase in Witchfire’s damage. Additionally, this Mutator allows you to reduce Skill Cooldowns by 1% for every 100 Mod Power spent, providing a useful edge in battle.

Talisman of the sun

With the weapons covered, let’s dive into The Fire Tormentor’s trinkets. Starting with the Amulet, given our emphasis on Fire Elemental Damage, the Talisman of the Sun is the best option. It boosts Fire Damage by 20% and increases Burning Damage over time by 50%, providing the highest damage multiplier for this build.

Rings

Stone of Malevolence

Now, let’s talk about the Rings. The first one to consider is the Stone of Malevolence, which boosts Mod Power Generation by 15% when dealing Elemental Damage. Since this build relies heavily on Fire Damage, you can expect a steady flow of Mod Power, allowing you to use Firestorm and Witchfire consistently during battles.

Red Ring of Death

Since we need to build up our Burning stacks, the Red Ring of Death is an excellent choice. This ring helps accumulate status ailment stacks by replicating the most recent damaging negative status effect applied to targets, allowing for quicker and more efficient stack building.

Burden of the Destroyer

The third ring in my setup is the Burden of the Destroyer, which increases all damage dealt by 15% in exchange for a 35% decrease on Ideal Range for all firearms. The drawback of this ring is minimal because we’re focusing solely on using Mods for dealing damage.

Burden of the Gambler

The last ring I’m using in this build is the Burden of the Gambler. Since we lack Critical Hit Chance and Critical Damage in this build, the Burden of the Gambler is a great choice—it provides an additional 15% Critical Damage and 10% Critical Chance while disabling weak spots.

You can ignore the downside of this ring since this build doesn’t require targeting enemy weak spots. However, if you’d like a bonus for hitting weak spots, you might want to use the Burden of the Sciolist Ring instead.

Remnant 2 Invoker Build – The Fire Tormentor: Armor

Regarding the Armor Set, you can choose any set that suits your preference, but make sure it’s light enough for you to avoid enemy attacks with ease, as this build involves a lot of dodging. In this setup, I’m using the Red Widow Headdress, the High Noon Duds for the Armor, the Knotted Greaves for the legs, and the Red Widow Bracers for the arms. This custom set is designed to align with the overall theme of the build.

Bottled Shaedberry

For Concoctions, I recommend using the Bottled Shaedberry, which offers an additional 10% Mod Power Generation, enhancing your ability to use Mods frequently in battle.

Remnant 2 Invoker Build – The Fire Tormentor: Relics and Traits

Tranquil Heart

For this setup, you’re free to choose any Relic you prefer. I’ve chosen the Tranquil Heart for its passive 2 Health Regeneration and combined it with the following Relic Fragments: a 10% reduction in Mod Cost, a 20% boost to Mod & Skill Cast Speed, and a 10% increase in Elemental Damage.

Now that we’ve discussed the build’s equipment, let’s move on to the suggested Traits. By choosing the Invoker Archetype, you gain the level 10 Gifted Trait, which increases Skill Duration by 30%. This is valuable as it extends the effects of Way of Kaeula, giving you more time to benefit from its impact.

Meanwhile, the Engineer Archetype offers the level 10 Fortify Trait, which increases Armor Effectiveness by 50%. This added boost to armor helps increase the build’s survivability, allowing you to withstand more damage in combat.

Next, let’s consider the level 10 Flash Caster Trait, which grants an additional 50% Mod and Skill Casting Speed. Since this build relies heavily on Mods, having this trait maxed out is highly beneficial.

For the following trait, I suggest maxing out Kinship to level 10 to reduce Firestorm’s damage in case you accidentally get caught in it. This will help you stay safe while using powerful area-of-effect skills.

To ensure that your Burning stacks last longer on enemies, consider maxing out the Affliction Trait to level 10. This Trait increases the duration of Status Effects on enemies by 100%, helping you maintain consistent fire-based damage throughout your battles.

Boosting Vigor to level 10 will enhance the build’s overall resilience, giving you more health to withstand enemy attacks. Since our damage output relies heavily on Mods, I’ve decided to raise the Spirit Trait to level 10, which boosts Mod Power Generation by 20%.

Next, consider upgrading Expertise to level 10 to reduce this build’s Skill Cooldown by 20%. This will allow you to use your skills more frequently, providing more opportunities to deploy Mods.

I’ve also raised the Glutton Trait to level 10, which increases the Use Speed of Consumables and Relics by 35%. This is crucial since you might need to use Relic Charges to generate ammunition for your Heavy Weapon later on.

As for the Fitness Trait, upgrading it to level 10 increases evade distance by 30%. Given the frequent dodging required in this build, this added distance can be a lifesaver in tight situations.

Remnant 2 Invoker Build – The Fire Tormentor: Final Tips

Here are some gameplay tips before we wrap up this guide. The Fire Tormentor build is capable of dealing massive damage if set up correctly, so here’s a suggested opener to maximize its impact.

As the battle begins, deploy the Flamethrower Turret to start inflicting damage on enemies. This initial setup will give you a good head start. Next, use the Way of Kaeula Skill to apply the Haste buff and summon a Rainstorm over the battlefield. This helps boost your speed while creating a potent area-of-effect hazard.

Start by casting all your Witchfire charges then, quickly switch to the Bonesaw and activate the Firestorm Mod. This sequence adds more firepower to your arsenal and ensures a steady stream of damage over time.

After activating Firestorm, keep shooting at your targets with the Bonesaw to stack additional Burning effects. Keep an eye on your Mod charges—whenever a Mod is ready, use it immediately to keep the pressure on. The goal is to have multiple Firestorms and Witchfires damaging your targets, while you continue to pepper them with the Bonesaw.

By following this rotation, your enemies will constantly take fire damage over time, and bosses will have a hard time standing their ground when the Fire Tormentor build is in action. This approach ensures a relentless assault of fire-based damage that will eventually overwhelm even the toughest opponents.
