Remnant 2 Developer Wants to Add A New Game Mode

Developer Gunfire Games is busy working on the next DLC for Remnant 2 but has shared insight on what they would love to work on afterwards. In a recent interview between the studio and Exputer, the developer was asked about how they would feel about working on a possible survival mode. Director David Adams explained that they would be interested in working on a new mode for the game once the second DLC was out of the way.

Right now, we are focused on the second DLC we’re working on. That’s the ‘official’ answer. The ‘unofficial’ answer is we would love to explore a new game mode. Maybe not exactly like Survivor, but something that scratches the same itch.

While there isn’t an “official” plan for a survival mode, never say never as Adams shared they “want to keep adding stuff” to the game for the players. The updates the games have received in the past haven’t been set in stone, but rather developed organically such as the Aberration event that took place in October. However, it looks like for now GG is stuck in working on the next DLC.

In October Remnant 2 has the Aberration Event which added more challenge with the infiltration of ghoulish goings on.

Bosses But Beatable

The interview also talked a bit about the process of development including the creation of bosses in the game. Remnant 2 has some unrelenting challenges, including Adam’s favourite the Cube boss. I can’t quite agree with this stance, it’s a fun boss but getting that pattern down was a pain but probably a skill issue for me. According to Adams, those on the dev team who develop a boss also have to successfully complete or come close to completing a “no-hit-run”. This sets a good litmus test for the difficulty of the boss. If its own creator can’t beat it unscathed, there’s a possibility the pattern is “too complex” for others.

Future Content

Also teased is what’s to come in the future for Remnant 2, that includes DLC but that’s not all they have planned. Remnant 2 is expected to have three DLCs within the first year of launch, with first DLC already released, and another being worked on, the next DLC will follow after that. We’ll have to see what other goodies await us.

The last DLC that came to the game was The Awakened King, which brought with it a new Archetype the Ritualist. It also introduced new quests, dungeons and areas based on the Bloodborne-inspired-looking world of Losomn. The DLC provides roughly 3 to 5 more hours of gameplay. Even players who don’t own The Awakened King DLC can still join others who do, of course with some restrictions such as not being able to use items gained unless you own the DLC.
