When the PvP sandbox Reign of Guilds opened its early access doors at the beginning of this month, developer Atlant Games admitted that it wasn’t quite as ready as it would like to be. Now that the game has been out in the wild for a few weeks, the studio is taking stock of it all and addressing what reads like a particularly grumpy playerbase.
The post opens by giving hard information about the number of developers at Atlant in order to dispel what it characterized as “a few speculations and misunderstandings”: There are currently eight people working on the game at the moment, with as many as 10 at one point in mid-2019. After having budgeted its 2024 out, the studio says it will start hiring more devs, as eight people is not enough to support the current active playerbase.
As a result of this extremely small team size and the time it takes to take on new devs, Atlant is asking players to summon some patience. “I clearly see the absolutely legitimate complaints and demands from the community regarding the low quality of both the project itself and its support. However, I ask you to be patient and give us the opportunity to stabilize the work on the project by expanding the studio’s staff,” the post reads.
The rest of the report otherwise names and shames players who have been banned and recounts the past 20 days’ worth of patches and updates. On the subject of those updates, those are now scheduled to deploy at a different time instead of during prime time.
