While rumors circulate about what’s coming next for Sony and Microsoft in terms of new consoles, details have emerged from an unlikely source. In a recent presentation in Poland, TCL Technology revealed that the PlayStation 5 Pro and “new” Xbox Series X/S would launch in 2023/2024.

This is according to PPE.pl who attended the presentation and took pictures of the slides (which you can see below, courtesy of insider Tom Henderson). Dubbed the “half generation of consoles”, the PS5 Pro and new Xbox Series X/S will apparently be capable of rendering 60-120 FPS at 2160p resolution. Their output is capable of UHD-8K at 60-120 FPS.

AMD’s Radeon RX 7700 XT is also mentioned. This GPU features an RDNA 3 graphics core (current Xbox Series X/S and PS5 models utilize a custom RDNA 2 architecture) and 8 GB GDDR6 RAM. It also reportedly boasts better ray tracing performance than the company’s own RX 6900 XT.

As for why TCL Technology may be sharing this information, it ranks second in global TV panel and LCD TV market share. It could thus be looking to promote displays tailor-made for the new consoles. Neither Sony nor Microsoft have confirmed, much less hinted at, the existence of a PS5 Pro and new Xbox Series X/S respectively. We’ll need to wait for more details in the coming months.
