On February 27, The Pokemon Company International will showcase announcements and upcoming projects in celebration of Pokemon Day 2023. “Celebrate Pokemon Together” on the 27th anniversary of the Japanese release of Pokemon Red and Pokemon Green on the Game Boy in 1996. According to TPCI’s official press release, you can expect around 20 minutes of Pokemon-related news, using the hashtag #PokemonDay to be part of the conversation online. The video will premiere on the official Pokemon YouTube channel at 9:00AM ET.

DUALSHOCKERS VIDEO OF THE DAY

Last week, the same channel dropped a video inviting fans to “Pokemon Together” in the many ways the franchise exists to entertain all age groups. Children as young as six years old can learn to play the Pokemon Trading Card Game, no electronics required. Nintendo Switch players have access to three generations of Pokemon across seven traditional titles. Brilliant Diamond, Shining Pearl, and Pokemon Legends Arceus each bring players to locales home to 4th generation Pokemon. Sword and Shield versions bring players into a new age with the 8th generation. Finally, the Scarlet and Violet versions usher trainers into the 9th and most current generation.

It isn’t all about the competition and filling the Pokedex. For those more interested in capturing the good sides of Pokemon, Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pass members can play the 1999 title Pokemon Snap within the Nintendo 64 library. Take photographs of wild Pokemon to capture them on film, rather than in a Pokeball. The modern version, New Pokemon Snap, can be purchased separately for Switch as well.

More free-to-play video games are available on Switch and mobile platforms. Pokemon GO is one of the most downloaded and played titles on mobile devices. Pokemon Unite (on Switch and Mobile) gives you access to a limited number of selectable Pokemon to engage in a League of Legends-type battle royale. For real-time Pokemon battles on mobile, look no further than Pokemon Masters. Lastly, Pokemon Cafe Remix lets you open a restaurant where food is cooked by your Pokemon to be served to your Pokemon customers.

Other than the announcement, there is no official word from TPCI on what will be included in this Pokemon Presents. Previous videos have predominantly included announcements about new games to be released, as well as updates to the current titles available. With so many ways to experience Pokemon, alone or together, there is sure to be something for everyone when the video premieres on Monday.
