The battle against Melli is tough in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, but there’s a better chance of success using these tips.
Melli can be a difficult person to defeat in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, however, it is not impossible. Keeping in mind that this Diamond Clan member specializes in Poison-type could help you adjust your approach.
The first battle against Melli will occur at the Wayward Cave and then, later on, will take place at the Moonview Arena.
Melli’s Pokémon
Warden Melli’s Pokémon include a level 44 Skuntank, level 22 Zubat, and a level 22 Skorupi.
During this battle, Melli will have 3 Pokemon on the field while you will be allowed just 1. This also means that Melli will have more turns than you to attack.
It’s recommended to take his team of Poison-type Pokemon down as soon as possible before they start spamming Poison-type moves.
Zubat
You should try to take Zubat down first to avoid your Pokémon getting drowsy from the Hypnosis move. It would be wise to send out a Pokémon with a high speed stat for Zubat.
Skuntank
Once Zubat is down, swap your high speed Pokemon out for a Ground-type. While Skuntank is Melli’s strongest Pokémon, it is a Poison/Dark-type Pokemon which is weak against Ground-type Pokemon. This means it will typically take twice the damage from ground moves.
Skorupi
You can save Skorupi for last as it is the weakest out of the 3. Skorupi is a bug and poison-type meaning it will have four weaknesses. These weaknesses include Flying, Psychic, Fire, and Rock-type moves. If you take advantage of these weaknesses, you should be able to finish up this battle pretty quickly.
Recommended Pokemon would be Rhydon or Onix as by level 34 these Pokemon not only know Ground and Rock-type moves, but they will also have learned High Horsepower and Stealth Rock. This should be enough to take down his entire team.
Items That Cure Poison
Considering Melli’s Pokemon are Poison-type, there’s a high chance of your Pokemon being poisoned when attacked. Be aware of the Venoshock skill from Skuntank and Skorupi. If your Pokemon already has a status condition, this skill will have even more of an effect on their health.
- Pecha Berries can be found in trees in the north area of Cobalt Coastlands as well as the Crimson Mirelands. They will be in green trees with red and yellow berries. They can also be purchased from shops. It will cure your poisoned Pokemon.
- Lum Berries can be found in fruit-bearing trees in Coronet Highlands. This berry will cure any status conditions.
