Pokémon GO: Groudon Raid Counters

0

Groudon has taken over as the fifth-level raid boss in Pokémon GO from its counterpart Kyogre. In this position, you will find it at many local gyms and, with a little luck, may even be able to catch the rare Shiny variant. This Legendary Pokémon from the Hoenn region is an indispensable asset for many successful teams in GO Battle League’s Master League – if you have PvP ambitions, you should secure a mighty specimen for your needs. This guide will show you how to defeat Groudon in Pokémon GO’s raids.

Groudon: Best Counters – Pokémon GO

Mega Blastoise (Water Gun, Hydro Cannon).
Mega Venusaur (Vine Whip, Frenzy Plant).
Mega Gyarados (Waterfall, Hydro Pump).
Zarude (Vine Whip, Power Whip).
Kyogre (Waterfall, Surf).
Tangrowth (Vine Whip, Power Whip).
Samurott (Waterfall, Hydro Cannon).
Mewtwo (Psycho Cut, Ice Beam).
Mega Abomasnow (Razor Leaf, Weather Ball (Ice)).
Gyarados (Waterfall, Hydro Pump).
Tapu Bulu (Bullet Seed, Grass Knot).
Swampert (Water Gun, Hydro Cannon).
Feraligatr (Water Gun, Hydro Cannon).
Torterra (Razer Leaf, Frenzy Plant).
Palkia (Dragon Tail, Aqua Tail).

Groudon commands 54,411 competition points (CP) as a fifth-level raid boss and can be caught with a strength between 2,260 and 2,939 CP after defeating it. The most powerful beasts can be found in clear weather conditions. This Ground-type has weaknesses against Ice, Water, and Grass-type attacks. In practice, teams of Water or Grass Pokémon are ideal, especially if you supplement them with Mega Evolutions of these categories.

Monsters like Gyarados are especially suitable because the secondary Flying-type reduces the effectiveness of Groudon’s powerful Ground attacks. Whichever approach you choose, coordinate your raid lineup so that your Mega Evolution supports the majority of attackers with a damage boost. It should take at least three to four level 40 trainers with appropriately upgraded Pokémon to bring Groudon to its knees within the time limit, so don’t underestimate the ancient legend.
