PlayStation Plus Collection Will No Longer Be Redeemable From May

Red alert for Plus subscribers.

Sony has verified that the games in the PlayStation Plus Collection will no longer be available to redeem starting from May 9.

“On May 9 the PlayStation Plus Collection will no longer be offered.” Sony states in a new report, which urges players to redeem the collection before the assigned date. “If you haven’t redeemed the titles in this collection yet, you can still do so until May 9, which will enable you to access those titles even after this date for as long as you remain a PlayStation Plus member.”

The PlayStation Plus Collection is a carefully selected set of PlayStation 4 games that defined the previous generation, and is currently accessible to all PlayStation 5 owners with a PlayStation Plus subscription. However, it’s worth noting that these games can also be obtained by PS4 account holders, as long as they redeem the collection through a PS5 console first.

It had come to light soon after the PS5’s release that some users and scalpers had been exploiting this loophole to redeem the collection without owning a PS5 console, and this practice resulted in console bans for many of these individuals. However, this issue is not as impactful as it once was, as there are alternative ways now to obtain free games on the console, such as Sony’s three-tier subscription service and its constant release of new games each month.

List of PS Plus Collection Games Getting Removed

  • Batman: Arkham Knight
  • Battlefield 1
  • Bloodborne
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops III
  • Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy
  • Days Gone
  • Detroit: Become Human
  • Fallout 4
  • Final Fantasy XV Royal Edition
  • God of War
  • Infamous Second Son
  • Monster Hunter World
  • Mortal Kombat X
  • Ratchet & Clank
  • The Last Guardian
  • The Last of Us Remastered
  • Resident Evil 7: Biohazard
  • Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End
  • Until Dawn

According to Sony, the company will concentrate its efforts on expanding the PS Plus library of monthly games and the constantly growing games catalog available through the PS Plus Premium and Extra tiers. We are still unaware of Sony’s gaming plans for its subscription in February, but interested users can check last month’s added games. It’s also important to point out that these games can’t be owned, only enjoyed for a limited time, just like Xbox’s modus operandi with its Game Pass subscription service.

The company has verified that a recent leak regarding the PlayStation Plus games being added to the service is accurate.
