Pikmin Bloom is currently Niantic’s most recent foray into AR games and uses one of Miyamoto’s own creations, the Pikmin creatures. These plant-animal-insect hybrids can be used to help you journey through dangerous lands in the mainline Pikmin games, but in Pikmin Bloom you’ll be growing Pikmin, sending them on short missions, and nurturing them in order to gather exclusive Decor Pikmin.
On your journey you’ll be undertaking plenty of expeditions. In order to unlock more expeditions, and get as many stars as possible, read through our tips below. If you’re struggling to complete the challenges you need to level up, we have the information you need.
How to get more stars on expeditions – Pikmin Bloom
It’s not clear at first, but the color of the mushrooms you’re sending your Pikmin to destroy matches the color of Pikmin they are weakest against. There are no Brown Pikmin, so Brown Mushrooms can be tackled by any combination of Pikmin you choose.
But if you need to tackle a Pink Mushroom, for example, you should use your pink Winged Pikmin. Same goes for Purple Mushrooms and the purple heavy Pikmin, etc.
The strength of your individual Pikmin also depends on what stage their flower is at on their head. When it is a leaf they are at their weakest, but have more strength when it is a bulb, and are at full power when it is flowering. Make sure to bring the Pikmin you want to use into your squad so you can give them nectar and make them flower for the best results.
You can only undertake three of these mushroom-destroying expeditions per day, so make sure you have the very best team before doing anything.
How to get more fruit and seed expeditions – Pikmin Bloom
Over time you will notice fewer and fewer seeds and fruit appear as expeditions. If you really want more expeditions, you need to take a long walk and plant some flowers.
This sounds simple, and it is, but whenever you take a walk you should activate the flower planting mode to plant flowers using the petals collected from your flowering Pikmin. You should try to plant different kinds of flowers often.
After walks your Pikmin will usually find expeditions that take place near where you’ve been walking, and you can make your Pikmin go and pick up fruit and seeds. Planting flowers will also reward you with coins you can spend in the in-game shop.
