Physical Bayonetta Editions For Nintendo Switch Delayed In UK & Europe

The official Nintendo UK Twitter account has announced that the physical copy of Bayonetta will be delayed in the UK and Europe. They also stated it will be exclusively available for order on the My Nintendo Store.

“We are now aiming to release the physical edition of Bayonetta in the first half of October, exclusively on My Nintendo Store. Please stay tuned for more info. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”, the official statement from Nintendo UK reads. The announcement was made on the morning of the original release date for the Bayonetta physical edition.

Fans replied to the tweet expressing their frustration with the lack of notification before the day of. But it is worth noting that this delay only affects the physical edition and not the digital edition, which is now available to purchase on the Nintendo eShop. No official reason was given for the delay, but Nintendo did apologise for the inconvenience.

Physical Editions in the UK and Europe will also be exclusive to My Nintendo Store, but at the time of writing, pre-orders are not currently available. This delay and exclusivity of the store are only for players within the UK and Europe. Other counties are able to get the physical copy of the game and get it from other retailers.

This delay comes shortly after the My Nintendo Store was down for maintenance for multiple days, with users in the UK unable to access the site during this period.

Bayonetta was initially released in 2009 for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. A follow-up sequel, Bayonetta 2, was released in 2014 on the Nintendo Switch. The original game is now being re-released on the Switch to have the whole series on one console. Despite the delay, it seems as though Nintendo plans to release this physical edition before Bayonetta 3 later this month. This delay doesn’t seem to change the schedule for the release of Bayonetta 3 on October 28th.
