Although 2022 saw plenty of releases from Atlus, they mostly came in the form of straightforward ports and remasters. Soul Hackers 2, which received mostly mixed reviews at launch, served as the only outright new release by Atlus last year. However, it appears that the Persona publisher has big plans for 2023 and beyond, as it teased multiple game reveals for this year.
This news came courtesy of an article by Famitsu that contains numerous New Year’s greeting cards written by 68 different gaming companies. One of those greeting cards, which received an English translation by Persona Central, came from Atlus, and it includes a statement that briefly goes over what fans can expect in 2023.
“In 2023, we will start with the remastered releases of P3P and P4G, and we are also preparing several new unannounced titles,” Atlus wrote. “Please look forward to it!”

Additionally, the statement thanked players for supporting Atlus’ game releases in 2022. Alongside Soul Hackers 2, these releases included ports of Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, and Persona 5 Royal. The statement also specifically made note of the success of the Persona 5 Royal remaster, which reached 1 million sales in its initial month after launch.
Persona Central notes that Atlus wrote a greetings card back in 2019 that teased upcoming game announcements in a similar way. That year, Atlus ended up announcing Catherine Classic, Persona 5 Royal, Persona 5 Strikers, and Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore. Although most of these games were rereleases, two of them received substantial content not found in their original versions.
At this point, fans can only speculate exactly what kinds of game reveals the Persona publisher has in store for us. The company may mostly reveal updated rereleases like in 2019, but at least one of these announcements could pertain to something significant, whether it be a new Persona game or something else.
