Prior to the release of Season 2 next week, Blizzard has shared a brand new Overwatch 2 trailer for the upcoming season, showcasing the Shambali Monastery map, Battle For Olympus mode, mythology-themed cosmetics, and holiday events that players can participate to earn plentiful rewards.

Ramattra, the first tank hero able to transform into two forms, will arrive with the Season 2 update on December 6th. However, Ramattra won’t be the only addition to Overwatch 2, as the new season brings the much-awaited Shambali Monastery map and Battle For Olympus limited-time mode. Furthermore, the popular holiday events, Winter Wonderland and Luna New Year, will be returning with a variety of mythology-themed cosmetics as part of the second season. There will also be balance changes that will directly affect some roles and champions, such as Sojourn and Doomfist.

Doomfist will receive significant changes to his stats and abilities that direct players to use him as a front liner. The devs noted that his hero identity will remain intact, and changes won’t affect the core elements of his gameplay. Players can also expect Sojourn to be nerfed since she has been dominating the competitive rank for quite some time. The lethality of her Rail Gun skill will be reduced, forcing players to use Sojourn’s mobility to dole out damage. Lastly, Season 2 will also bring adjustments to Bastion, Kiriko, Ana, Mercy, Junker Queen, and Symmetra.

Shambali Monastery will join the map pool in Season 2, introducing a unique architecture based on the nature of Nepal. Season 2 will also see the return of fan-favorite map, Rialto, which will only be available in custom games. The premium battle pass will feature mhytic cosmetics Zeus Junker Queen, Poseidon Ramattra, and Legendary Hades Pharah, each having new customizations, voice lines, effects, and weapon models. The new Battle for Olympus mode will kick off on January 5th and last until January 19th, but details on the mode are currently scarce.

The Winter Wonderland event will run from December 13th through January 4th, while New Lunar Year will take place between January 17th and February 1st. Players can earn skin rewards by completing challenges and other improved rewards. Epic Ice Queen Brigitte, Legendary Winged Victory Mercy, and Legendary Kkachi Echo are among the cosmetics rewards available in upcoming events. Last but not least, Season 2 brings new hero challenges, in which players practice heroes’ abilities to collect rewards. They will have the chance to earn heroes they have not yet unlocked.

Season 2 of Overwatch 2 will start on December 6th.
