Open-world Zelda-like Airoheart gets a September release date

Airoheart has an official release date. The action-adventure RPG will launch on Steam on September 30. Alongside this announcement, publisher Soedesco also dropped a new gameplay trailer providing further insight into what players can expect. Set in Engard, the story follows Airoheart, a hero tasked with stopping his brother from unleashing an ancient evil.

It’s fair to say that Airoheart isn’t being subtle about what its inspiration is. From the Steam page stating that it is “inspired by the classics,” to the publisher joking about the comparisons in the trailer’s comment section, this is clearly based on the Zelda series. Airoheart shares a lot in common with the series’ older games, like The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.

It uses the same top-down perspective, a similar art style, features a sword-wielding protagonist, and is themed around adventuring through dungeons and solving puzzles. Not that being inspired by Zelda is a bad thing, considering we can’t play Zelda games on PC. Until the unlikely day comes that Nintendo opens up to that idea games like Airoheart help fill the void.

Although you can’t play it yet, there are some things you can do while you wait for Airoheart‘s release date. Since it’s already listed on Steam, it’s possible to add Airoheart to your wishlist. Doing so will make sure that you don’t miss out on any updates from the developer. It’ll also notify you when the game comes out in three months’ time.

Try the demo!

If you are particularly impatient, there is another option. Developer Pixel Heart Studio has put together a demo that can be downloaded through Steam. Just head over to Airoheart’s Steam page and select ‘Download PC Demo’ on the right-hand side. Free demos aren’t overly common in this day and age, so it’s worth taking advantage of them when the option is given. Plus it’ll help give you a better idea of if Airoheart is something you want to play.
