Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 announced, will feature new characters and a single-player campaign

Before the release of 2021’s Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, the game received a surprising degree of interest from players. For a licensed Super Smash Bros. clone, it seemed to take its gameplay more seriously than it had any right to, which made a lot of Smash Bros. fans excited to try it out. Unfortunately, while many players enjoyed the gameplay when the title released, its momentum quickly fizzled out, which largely had to do with the overall lack of features and polish. However, developer Ludosity has not given up on the idea just yet, as it just announced Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 this morning.

At least when it comes to visual polish, it appears evident that Ludosity has stepped up its game. While still clearly made on a relatively limited budget, the lighting and overall detail on the character models and backgrounds surpass the original by a decent amount. And of course, we have some new characters added to the game’s goofy ensemble, with both Squidward and Jimmy Neutron coming complete with memes and out-of-context voice clips.

Any improvements to the gameplay?

Additionally, fans of the original Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl will have at least a few new gameplay additions to try out in the sequel. Characters now boast super moves that add a bit more pizzazz and spectacle to matches, for example. But what will likely interest most casual fans the most is the new single-player campaign, which introduces rogue-lite elements to spice things up. Other notable additions include new minigames, a revamped arcade mode, and even a boss rush mode.

Now that Ludosity has announced Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2, players can only wait and see if the developers manage to evolve this wacky concept from a fleeting novelty into something greater. At the very least, though, it’s great that the developers weren’t demotivated by the overall middling response of the last game and instead chose to give it one more go.
