Since No Time To Die hit cinemas last year, the future of James Bond has been left up in the air. Daniel Craig stepped away from the 007 role after 15 years and five movies, and now it is time for a new star to don the tuxedo and take his martinis shaken, not stirred. One of the fan favourites, Tom Hardy, had been at the forefront of the Bond odds, but things are beginning to slp away from the Mad Max actor.
Just last week, Hardy had a powerful 4/1 on becoming James Bond from Ladbrokes.
The Venom actor has previously opened up about how he would “not” discuss becoming Bond, as he feared he would lose his shot if he spoke about it more openly.
While he has certainly remained quiet since making these comments, his odds have decreased in recent days. Ladbrokes have now given the Dunkirk actor 5/1 on becoming the new 007.
This change pushes Hardy into fourth place in the Bond odds, just behind Idris Elba.
Elba has maintained a powerful 4/1 on becoming 007. But his odds may be set to change drastically after the Bond bosses, Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson, mentioned him in a statement to Variety.
Broccoli confirmed: “We love Idris,” before explaining why he might not be the best bet for 007. She continued: “The thing is, it’s going to be a couple of years off. And when we cast Bond, it’s a 10-12 year commitment. So he’s probably thinking: ‘Do I really want that thing?’ Not everybody wants to do that.”
Despite this, for now, he is a powerful third-place candidate for Bond, despite the fact he is being beaten, marginally, by another massive British star: Regé-Jean Page.

While Hardy has slipped behind in the Bond odds, Cavill shows no signs of stopping. His odds have now improved to a staggering 7/4.
Ladbrokes’ Alex Apati said: “Henry Cavill has pulled even further ahead in the latest Bond betting after plenty of punter interest over the weekend.”
The actor would be perfect for the role, considering his history of playing tough heroes, such as Superman, Geralt of Rivia from The Witcher, and the super spy Napoleon Solo in The Man from UNCLE.
What’s more, if Cavill were to go for the role it would be the second time he attempted to become Britain’s best-known spy.
Cavill previously auditioned to become James Bond back in 2005. And he did extremely well, getting through to the final audition phase with the studio at the time, which was producing the 2006 movie Casino Royale.
Unfortunately for the star, disaster struck. Casino Royale’s director, Martin Campbell, said Cavill was looking a little “chubby”.
The actor later admitted he didn’t know how to “train or diet,” and he inevitably lost the role. Just months later, Craig was announced as the new James Bond.
