After a few weeks of post-Christmas blue, the release schedule is finally starting to deliver the goods with new games arriving thick and fast. So, what’s new on PS5 and PS4 this week? What new games will be released on the PlayStation Store and the shelves of your favorite retailer?
A big one this week for PlayStation players is the oddly satisfying PowerWash Simulator. Originally released last year on Xbox and PC, the cleaning sim scored high with critics and players alike for its simple yet addictive concept. PlayStation players were left out of the fun but that changes this week. There’s also a nice little bonus to reward the PlayStation faithful for their patience: a Tomb Raider-based cleaning job that tasks players with scrubbing Lara Croft’s stately home. If the bucket and sponge are more your thing, SpongeBob SquarePants has a brand-new adventure out this week with SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake. It’s an original adventure that takes SpongeBob and his ditzy mate Patrick Star across dimensions to save the citizens of Bikini Bottom. Don’t miss this one if bright and colorful fun tickles your sea pickles.
The magic of the 2022 FIFA World Cup may seem like a distant memory now, but there’s always time for football. After an indefinite delay last year, Football Manager 2023 is finally releasing on PS5 this week. With the most in-depth management system around, it’s far too easy to get suckered into Sports Interactive’s footy sim. For PlayStation players, this will be the first time in years that the acclaimed series has graced a PlayStation console. If you value your social life, job, or marriage, you’ll avoid this one. Otherwise, text your mates, write your notice, and pack her bags; fewer distractions mean better results on the pitch.
