Kakao Games has released the first teaser trailer for ArcheAge 2, revealing that the new MMORPG will launch for both consoles and PC in 2024. Although a concrete release date for ArcheAge 2 has not been provided yet, the second part of the video includes an interview with Executive Producer Jake Song, giving a brief idea of what to expect from the upcoming sequel.
ArcheAge 2 was first confirmed to be in development two years ago, with XLGames and Kakao Games reiterating back in September that the next entry in the MMORPG series is indeed coming. This time the development team dropped a short teaser that includes some in-game footage, giving a preview of combat, enemies, and skills. As seen in the trailer, players will dive into numerous boss fights while exploring its massive open world.
An internal interview with Jake Song, the producer of ArcheAge and Lineage Games, revealed a ton of new information about the game, including combat, story, visuals, and trade system. He went on to say that the development team not only focuses on combat but also aims to offer an immersive story, which players might not expect from an MMORPG at first. “Our primary focus is on action-packed combat as well as production for an immersive storyline. We are targeting AAA-tier visuals with Unreal Engine 5”, Song said (via Gematsu).
Song also claimed ArcheAge 2 will have a different story progression compared to the previous game, as it will focus on personal adventures instead of following a narrative storyline. “The storyline will involve discovering and solving mysteries of an ancient civilization that have been forgotten for thousands of years, leaving it to blend with the natural environment.”
Going into more detail, Kakao Games will improve one of the best aspects of ArcheAge, housing, by adding new customization options that allow players to live with their friends. ArcheAge 2 will also enable players to create their own town with guild members. Last but not least, the devs intend to enhance the trading system so that players can do trade runs alone, in teams, or in raids.
ArcheAge 2 is currently targeting a 2024 release window for both PC and consoles.
