New Electric-Type Pokemon Belibolt Revealed In Pair Of Trailers

A few days ago, Pokémon’s social channels uploaded a video that featured Iono, a gym leader in the upcoming Pokemon Scarlet & Violet games, doing a ‘livestream’ in which she teased a new electric-type Pokémon, and in a follow-up to said ‘stream’ today, Iono revealed it to Belibolt. This jolly round buddy matched Iono’s prior descriptions of being sluggish, squishy, and having two lumps on its head which people confuse for eyes.

DUALSHOCKERS VIDEO OF THE DAY

The fictional stream didn’t provide much tangible information about the Pokémon itself and was more of an extended display of Iono’s character. She continues to be very energetic, and she speaks to her audience with quirky catchphrases, and constantly refers to her status as an influencer.

This video, as opposed to the last, did show another side of her, wherein she lets an honest reaction slip of how pleased she is that her viewcount is increasing. As entertaining as some fans found it, there was a tad of bittersweetness among the reactions, for many wished that energetic performances like Iono’s appeared in the actual game, however, it’s clear that Scarlet & Violet will not feature voice acting.

Another video released alongside the fictional stream, and this one had a bit more to show. It was a more traditional trailer that featured Bellibolt walking around in the open world, and also showed a few snippets of the Iono gym battle. This gave players the first look at the Levincia city. Though not that much of it was put front-and-center, some shots show futuristic glass-paned skyscrapers in the background of the fight, as well as some electronic billboards; both a good fit for the Electric-type gym leader.

The trailer features Bellibolt walking toward the player and getting cleaned up during a session of the previously revealed ‘Picnic’ mode. It also shows Bellibolt doing attacks mid-battle. One of these appears to be the Ground-type move, Mud Shot, suggesting that the Bellibolt’s evolution may be a dual-type Electric/Ground Pokémon. Still, no information has been given regarding the leaked ‘Paradox Pokemon’, and it’s possible fans will have to accept that these will not be shown until the games come out.
