Netflix’s Cyberpunk 2077 anime will be shown off in June

Well over a year has passed since the infamous launch of Cyberpunk 2077 swarmed the headlines. Although the drama surrounding its launch has subsided in recent months, its impact still persists, as its buggy release remains the first thing that comes to people’s minds when they think of Cyberpunk 2077. Because of this, many have likely forgotten that developer CD Projekt Red unveiled an upcoming anime series based on Cyberpunk 2077 in 2020.

As it turns out, this series, which will come to Netflix at an unknown date, has remained in the works for all this time, and it will show up at Netflix’s upcoming Geeked Week 2022 event in June. This series, which goes by the name Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, will run for ten episodes, and judging by the initial plot outline, it will star a young punk who becomes a cybersecurity mercenary known as an “Edgerunner.”

What’s the series like?

Interestingly, this series has some notable talent on board in the form of Studio Trigger, the animation company known for works such as Kill la Kill and Little Witch AcademiaAt the very least, this means that Cyberpunk: Edgerunners should have a great deal of visual polish no matter what the story entails.

With Geeked Week 2022 right around the corner, fans will soon get the opportunity to learn more about a series that has not had too much news surrounding it. Hopefully, the anime will turn out much better than Cyberpunk 2077 did at launch. But even if it doesn’t impress during the Geeked Week event, Netflix still has plenty of news pertaining to other video game adaptations for those interested. The adaptations that will be shown off include an upcoming live-action series based on Resident Evil as well as the second season of The Cuphead Show. If you aren’t into video game adaptations, however, Geeked Week may still provide at least something worthwhile.
