Netflix drops trailer for ‘Dare To Love Me’, starring Kim Myung-soo

Netflix has dropped a new trailer for its upcoming K-drama series Dare To Love Me, starring Kim Myung-soo and Lee Yoo-young. Read on for details about the plot, cast, premiere date and more.

What is the plot of Dare To Love Me?

Based on the popular Korean webcomic series Hamburo Dahaejwo by Sunwoo, Dare To Love Me is a romantic comedy that centres around Kim Hong-do, a contract worker for an apparel company. She ends up being overworked and is looked down upon by her colleagues, although that does little to stop her from chasing her dream of becoming a designer for a global luxury fashion brand.

On the other hand, Shin Yoon-bok is the successor of a family who resides in Sungsan Village, a part of South Korea that maintains its architecture and appearance from the country’s Joseon era. He dons the garments of a Confucian scholar and listens to the elders in his family who are hellbent on going about things the traditional way.

However, Yoon-bok is young man with a rebellious spirit who dreams of becoming a webcomic writer. In an attempt to chase after his dream, he leaves his family behind to head to Seoul, where he meets and eventually falls in love with Hong-do.

What is in the cast of the new Netflix series?

Kim Myung-soo, a member of K-pop boyband INFINITE, plays as Shin Yoon-bok, while Lee Yoo-young of Insider and Dr. Brain fame stars opposite him as Kim Hong-do.

Other actors who are part of the cast include the likes of Bae Jong-ok (Again My Life), Park Eun-seok (Penthouse, Moonshine), Jo In (The Interest of Love) and Han Gi-chan (Again My Life) in various supporting roles.

Is there a trailer for Dare To Love Me?

Netflix released an official trailer for the series yesterday (May 7), and opened with a montage of Kim Hong-do getting mistreated at her work. “You were an imposter to me, Kim Hong-do,” a colleague says to her in a scathing tone. Following that is a glimpse into Yoon-bok’s traditional life as part of Sungsan Village, until he crosses paths with the clumsy Hong-do, who she takes in as her “pupil”.

How do I watch Dare To Love Me?

Dare To Love Me is set to premiere May 13 on South Korean TV network KBS2, with new episodes airing every Monday and Tuesday night at 10:10pm KST. The series will be available on Netflix internationally, with episodes being released concurrently with KBS2’s broadcast schedule.
