Neowiz Confirms The Release Window For Lies of P DLC

0

The release window for the Lies of P DLC has been confirmed as part of Neowiz’s financial report. The South Korean industry has been seeking a place in the market to establish itself as a AAA development powerhouse for years. While Stellar Blade is currently at the forefront of everyone’s minds due to its recent launch, Lies of P made it clear in 2023 that there is a market for Korean developments and eager teams ready to create.

Lies of P First DLC

Neowiz has presented its financial report with very favorable results, which in turn has confirmed the release window for Lies of P’s first DLC.

Neowiz and Round8 Studio’s soulslike game arrived in September 2023 after nearly half a decade of development. Although it was born more as a playable concept than a project that would seek to reach the market by a novice team, it surprised both insiders and outsiders, stormed through Game Pass, and became one of the top RPGs of the year as seen on our Lies of P Review. Evidence of this is Neowiz’s earnings, the game’s publisher, reported at $71 million, with a 58% increase in revenue from console and PC IPs.

According to the financial report of the South Korean distributor, the Round8 Studio team is working on this content expansion with the aim of releasing it in the second half of 2024. This implies that the starting gun for its release will be fired next June. In fact, with this in mind, we can even imagine when it will be unveiled, not just when it will be released.

The first glimpse of the game came during Gamescom 2022 as part of the Xbox conference. This leaves us with two possibilities: either the Koreans will repeat in this summer’s event, or it is very likely that Xbox will rally around one of its big “Day One” launches on Game Pass and present it next June. Either way, all we can do is wait.

Lies of P and Stellar Blade herald the dawn of the new South Korean industry Although they belong to different genres, with certain logical points of connection, both South Korean developments have caught the attention of the country’s government, and it has acted accordingly.

After the release of SHIFT UP’s hack and slash game, the Ministry of Culture of South Korea announced a massive project funding strategy aiming not only to become one of the industry’s major engines but also to attract the attention of Western distributors.
